Jennifer is a personal trainer, licensed massage therapist/sport & functional movement specialist, and longevity wellness specialist. She aims for each of her clients to reach their fitness and wellness goals with her knowledge, intuitiveness, and need to help others. Whether a person is suffering from overuse syndromes, injury, or surgery; she is dedicated to empowering those to gain control over their health and well being in order to return to the higher quality of life her clients once had. Employing modalities such as Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) The Mattes Method, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofacial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Strength Training she is able to access and develop treatment based on individual needs.
As someone who enjoys challenges and loves to learn, Jennifer is currently working to gain knowledge in many areas of massage therapy and body work. Her current experience has provided her successful treatment with Plantar Fasciitis, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Iliotibial Band injuries, Scoliosis, pelvic, hip, and back pain, general muscular tension, tension headaches, Carpal Tunnel, Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome, and Myofacial Pain Syndrome. With plenty of room to continue to grow, she is excited about adding other techniques and treatment options to this list.
Jennifer did not start out knowing that massage therapy was her career path. She attended Florida State University and graduated with her Bachelors of Social Work. She always had a desire to help and empower people, but was not sure in what aspect. As she worked in the Juvenile Justice system full time, she decided to take her passion to help others toward the medical field. She started to pursue a career in nursing, taking a few night classes as she continued to work full time with the Juvenile Justice System. After completing all required coursework and applying to various programs, she decided that was not her calling. As she was trying to figure out her path, she tapped into her love of health and fitness. She became certified through the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer. She made the transition into the Health and Fitness world and began a career as a personal trainer. Helping others to reach their fitness goals was great, but she realized something was missing. She wanted to not only help those to reach those goals, but she wanted to be able to help those who didn’t feel like they could even start because of previous injuries, surgery, or lack of functional movement. She met Kim Ortloff and attended a seminar in Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) The Mattes Method. She fell in love with the work. After attending the seminar and the weekly stretch classes, Jennifer took the opportunity to apprentice with Ms. Ortloff through the Florida State Board Apprenticeship Program for Massage Therapy. Jennifer completed 1500 hours of training under Ms. Ortloff and has passed the state boards in order to become a licensed massage therapist.
The human body, mind, and spirit has always fascinated Jennifer. In her roundabout way of finding her career path, she feels that she has gained more than anatomy/physiology and biomechanical awareness. She is able to work with individuals as a whole utilizing her background in social work, fitness, personal athleticism, and compassion for others.
Outside the Clinic:
The fun and adventure doesn’t just stay in the clinic. Jennifer leads an active lifestyle and is an avid volleyball player; playing both beach and indoor. You can always find her getting involved with multiple sports around the area including, soccer, kickball, softball, and running with her two dogs. She’s even picked up a little golf with her husband, Geoff. Growing up she twirled baton and eventually took her passion for twirling with her as a majorette for the Marching Chiefs at Florida State University. Go Noles!
